About

I've loved growing food ever since my childhood in rural Canada. To me, there's nothing quite like the taste of home-grown fruit and vegetables—or the satisfaction and resilience that comes from producing them yourself. It wasn't long before I wanted to share both what I'd learned and the food I was growing with other people.

Today, RED Gardens in Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary is where I grow food for my family and the wider community, while sharing practical advice with thousands of people via YouTube and, more recently, building a collective of friends and neighbours who share learnings and experience. One thing we all agree on is that every season brings new challenges, new discoveries and new opportunities to become a better grower.

Over the years I've grown an enormous range of vegetables using all sorts of methods—outdoors, under cover in polytunnels and in containers. It’s taught me that productive gardening isn't about having the perfect plot or the latest equipment. It's about understanding your growing space, working with nature and making the most of what you have.

Like every gardener, I've had my share of successes and failures. In many ways, the failures have been the best teachers. They've helped me transform what was once an empty piece of land into the productive, beautiful gardens you see today, and given me practical knowledge that you won't always find in a book.

That's what these courses are all about. They're an opportunity to spend a day together in the garden, sharing ideas, asking questions and exploring techniques that you can put into practice at home. My aim is simply to help you become a more confident, productive grower, so you can enjoy more of the food you love to eat—whatever space you have.
